Paint & Clear Coat Care
Ninety eight percent of vehicles sold today have polyurethane clear coats. These clear
coats are soft, porous and fragile.
Pollution, tree sap, bird droppings, bug remains and rain all do damage to today's
clear coats. A weekly or bi-weekly hand wash can greatly reduce damage to your vehicles
clear coat.
Tips
Use only a quality automotive wash, never use a dish type detergent or other harsh
cleaners on a vehicle. We recommend Zaino's car show wash to our customers who wash
their own vehicles.
Always use a clean 100% cotton or Micro Fiber towel on your paint finish.
Carefully remove bird droppings and bugs as soon as possible by soaking for several minutes with
warm water and car soap before attempting to rinse off with a strong stream of water.
Rinse as much off as possible and then scrub while flushing the area with water to rinse
away the gritty particles that can scratch the clear coat.
Use a bug remover product if necessary to remove bug remains. Spray on and let dwell several
minutes before scrubbing, bug remains that are not fully removed may continue to eat through
the clear coat.
Teach children not to write with their fingers or anything else on the soft clear.
The scratching resulting from such most likely will require sanding or buffing to remove.
Pollutants get on a vehicle when the pollutants get wet they produce acid rain. Which
attacks the resin system which binds the paint together. Therefore a thorough
neutralization is necessary and recommended before the application of a polymer seal
or paint correction. We use the only manufacturer approved neutralization process.
